Ob Sportvereine, Projekte der Gemeinde oder Jugendhilfe, gemeinsames Gärtnern, Kunst, Kultur oder dem Essener Verbund der Immigrantenvereine – die Engagement-Möglichkeiten in der City Nord/Nordviertel sind so vielfältig wie die Menschen, die in dem Stadtteil leben. Der digitale Rundgang mit der App Actionbound führt Dich zu verschiedenen Orten und Organisationen in der City Nord, an denen Du etwas darüber erfährst, welche Möglichkeiten es im eigenen Stadtteil gibt, welche Organisationen, Vereine und Initiativen bereits aktiv sind und wie Du Dich dort einbringen kannst. Dabei kannst Du spannende Quizaufgaben lösen. Der Rundgang führt auch über den Campus Essen und zeigt, wie gesellschaftliches Engagement an der Uni möglich ist. Wo es noch hingeht? Service Learning lectures
As part of the project, the existing range of service learning seminars was expanded.
The seminar "We have to talk! - About racism and diversity in everyday life" is designed to accompany the Barcamp for Diversity and is framed by it in terms of content.
In the seminar "Get involved! A practical seminar on the recognition and reflection of social commitment", students get involved in various projects or individually and reflect on their learning experiences and competence gains from the commitment with methodical guidance.

The STUDIUM HOCH E - Integration through Engagement project launches its own project website. In addition to an overview of the project's content and goals, the new website www.studium-hoch-e.de provides an insight into the insights gained and informs about current and thematically relevant events and publications as well as news from the project locations. The users of the website get an impression of the concrete implementations of the projects at the different locations and can inform themselves about the newly created formats, events and cooperations.

Projektgeschichte
Der Anteil von knapp 20% ausländischer Studierender beweist: Die UDE ist längst zu einem attraktiven Standort für internationale Studierende geworden. Dennoch und gerade deshalb ist es wichtig, internationalen Studierenden einen niedrigschwelligen Anschluss an das kulturelle und gesellschaftliche Leben zu ermöglichen.
In dem 30- monatigen Projekt STUDIUM HOCH E wird die Universität Duisburg-Essen in Kooperation mit der Ehrenamt Agentur Essen niedrigschwellige Zugänge, dauerhafte Gelegenheiten und förderliche Rahmenbedingungen für das bürgerschaftliche Engagement von Studierenden mit Migrationsgeschichte und internationalen Studierenden erforschen und entwickeln, um damit einen Beitrag zu ihrer gesellschaftlichen Integration sowie zur Steigerung der Studierfähigkeit zu leisten.
Die Besonderheit des Projektes liegt in der intersektoralen Zusammenarbeit zwischen Hochschulen und zivilgesellschaftlichen Organisationen sowie in der Intensivierung des wechselseitigen Wissenstransfers. Während die Ehrenamt Agentur die Engagement-Beratung und Vermittlung auf dem Essener Campus ermöglicht, wird UNIAKTIV passgenaue didaktische Angebote für die Zielgruppe in Kooperation mit dem akademischen Auslandsamt und dem Tutoren Service Center der Universität Duisburg-Essen entwickeln.
Die UDE fördert mit UNIAKTIV seit mehr als 10 Jahren die Lehrmethodik Service Learning und das bürgerschaftliche Engagement ihrer Hochschulangehörigen strukturell und strategisch. Mit der Auswahl als einem von drei Pilotstandorten neben der Philipps-Universität Marburg sowie der Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde werden die bisherigen Bemühungen bestätigt.
Project history
The proportion of nearly 20% foreign students proves it: UDE has long since become an attractive location for international students. Nevertheless, and precisely for this reason, it is important to provide international students with a low-threshold connection to cultural and social life.
In the 30-month STUDIUM HOCH E project, the University of Duisburg-Essen, in cooperation with the Ehrenamt Agentur Essen, will research and develop low-threshold access, lasting opportunities, and supportive framework conditions for the civic engagement of students with a migration history and international students, in order to contribute to their social integration as well as to increasing their ability to study.
The special feature of the project is the intersectoral cooperation between universities and civil society organizations as well as the intensification of mutual knowledge transfer. While the Ehrenamt Agentur (Volunteer Agency) will provide advice and mediation services on the Essen campus, UNIAKTIV will develop tailor-made didactic offers for the target group in cooperation with the International Office and the Tutoring Service Center of the University of Duisburg-Essen.
With UNIAKTIV, the UDE has been structurally and strategically promoting the teaching methodology of service learning and the civic engagement of its university staff for more than 10 years. The selection as one of three pilot locations alongside Philipps-Universität Marburg as well as Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde confirms the efforts made so far.
STUDIUM HOCH E is supported by the Federal Network for Civic Engagement (BBE) and funded by the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF). The Prorectorate for Social Responsibility, Diversity and Internationality provided significant support for the UDE's expression of interest.
